"Sun and Sand Car Rental Windhoek was borne out of our love and passion for road trips in Namibia, and we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience it too."
We were both born in South Africa, however, after living here for many years, we call Namibia our home. To maintain balance and rejuvenate our soul we spend as much time as possible in nature, either bird watching, observing, and photographing wildlife in our national parks, or just appreciating the diverse and vast landscapes our road trips take us through. Oh, and not to forget, being in awe of the star-filled night skies during new moon.
Sun and Sand Car Rental was borne out of our love and passion for road trips in Namibia, and we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience it too.
The adventure starts with planning the route, pouring over a map, finding areas not visited before or going back to places we love. Over the years, we have learnt that planning means we are prepared and thus frees us up to experience more on our trips. Being prepared, means packing only what you need for the journey, having binoculars, camera, beverages, and snacks accessible, knowing the route, and what can be stocked up on along the way. This makes for easy packing and more time to relax. We recommend staying in one place for 2 or even 3 nights, allowing time to immerse oneself in the area, to slow down and savour the stunning sunrises and sunsets.
Lodge hopping, self-catering, and Airbnb (in Windhoek and Swakopmund only), is a convenient way to experience Namibia without compromising on the need to escape the crowds as many establishments are in remote areas. Lodges and tented camps are designed with space between chalets, providing privacy and a sense of solitude. It is reassuring that the price spectrum is broad, suiting a range of budgets. On a single trip you could consider alternating between full board and self-catering or camping so that you can braai (barbeque/BBQ) and spend the evening around a fire.
We look forward to welcoming you to Namibia where you can also connect with nature, experience the benefits of a digital detox if you chose to do so, and return home feeling rejuvenated and relaxed with memories that will last a lifetime, and possibly draw you back for more.
